How Idaho Conservatives Can Beat the Pro-Abortion Ballot Initiative

Pro-abortion activists are once again working to drag Idaho down the same path as California, Ohio, and Michigan—using a deceptive ballot initiative to rewrite our state constitution and erase our pro-life protections.

We cannot let that happen. Here are three steps Idaho conservatives must take to defeat this radical push:

1. Don’t Waste Resources on “Decline to Sign” Campaigns

During the fight against Prop 1, some well-meaning organizations launched expensive campaigns urging voters not to sign the petition. It didn’t work. The activists pushing these abortion initiatives are professionals. They know how to gather signatures, and they will hit their target. Let’s learn from past mistakes and not burn precious dollars and energy fighting the inevitable. The real battle is at the ballot box.

2. Put a Conservative Priority on the Ballot

If they’re going to bring out their voters, let’s bring out ours. Heather Lauer, the GOP chair in Blaine County, made a smart suggestion: Put grocery tax repeal on the 2026 ballot. That’s an issue Idahoans overwhelmingly support. Giving conservatives something to rally around will boost turnout, energize our base, and strengthen the fight to protect life.

3. Focus on the Mission: Save Lives

Yes, conservatives are divided right now—over budgets, taxes, and even personalities. But nothing matters more than protecting the unborn. This fight will demand everything we’ve got: focus, unity, and serious commitment. That means donating, volunteering, knocking doors, and reminding voters exactly what’s at stake.

The other side is fired up. We need to be even more determined. If we come together, we can defeat this extreme abortion initiative—and make Idaho a national example of how to stand for life.
